Backend engineering for a mobile FinTech product in the banking space. The client is under NDA, so this stays high-level — but the theme was banking-grade reliability and security: high availability, faster resolution of critical vulnerabilities, and the disciplined delivery that regulated financial services demand.
What I owned
- Designed and implemented complex reward-calculation logic powering cashback campaigns, promotional offers and customer-engagement programs across multiple international markets.
- Architected transactional backend services for demanding financial scenarios, applying CQRS, Event Sourcing, Saga, the Outbox pattern and two-phase commit.
- Built backend services in Java (8/11/17) with Spring Boot and jOOQ, plus reward-processing systems handling fraud prevention and manual operational workflows.
- Implemented rollback mechanisms to guarantee transactional consistency across financial operations.
- Built cloud infrastructure on AWS (SNS, SQS, S3, LocalStack) with Docker, backed by PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Created reusable backend components and internal libraries to boost developer efficiency.
- Reached ~99.5% automated test coverage and ran code-review and refactoring initiatives to cut technical debt.
- Translated business requirements into scalable solutions and launched features across three international production markets while keeping the platform stable.
